Jefferson ends 2011 in the black

The City of Jefferson finished 2011 in the black, building its reserves to a little over $3.9 million. Jefferson had total revenues of $7.3 million last year in its General Fund, the majority of which came from property and sales taxes. County commissioners approve resurfacing portion of Colbert-Danielsville Rd.

A portion of Colbert-Danielsville Road will soon be resurfaced. County commissioners agreed June 15 to approve a contract with Allied Paving to resurface 2.4 miles of Colbert-Danielsville Road from the city of Colbert to Colbert Grove Church Road for just over $277,000. Jackson County lays out plans to get more sales tax money

Jackson County leaders presented a proposal to city officials Tuesday that will give the county a larger percentage of local option sales tax (LOST) revenue. Two men got into a fight on Henry Street in Braselton, according to police. The fight apparently started after the wife of one of the men parked her truck in the area, according to an incident report.
