Trees reported down after storm

Strong winds during a storm caused about 30-35 trees to fall down in areas in Jackson County on Tuesday afternoon, according to public safety director Steve Nichols. Commerce man airlifted following Hwy. 98 wreck

Wiring malfunction blamed for morning fire

An electrical wiring malfunction with a heating-and-air-conditioning unit caused the Tuesday morning fire that damaged the building on the corner of East Athens and Broad streets in downtown Winder.
