Attendance at county schools was up over the first day of school last year. Assistant principal Bonnie Knight told board of education members Tuesday night that 4,643 students attended schools countywide on Friday, up 47 students over last year. A Madison County convenience store owner has been charged with two counts of election fraud. Mohammad Shafiq, 43, 84 Hidden Falls Drive, Hull, has been charged with two counts of fraudulent entry on a voter registration card. A Carlton man was arrested recently after he allegedly attacked his uncle, threatening to cut him with a knife. Cody Lee Seymour, 23, 755 South Railroad Avenue, was charged with aggravated assault.
