Two Banks County High School students died during the past two days, one following a car wreck and another after a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Student who shot himself at BCHS dies

The 16 year old boy who shot himself in a bathroom at Banks County High School early Friday morning has died. According to authorities, the student died early Saturday morning. Not motive has yet been discussed about the event. More details will be posted as they become available.

LOST agreement reached; Commerce takes big hit

Jackson County and municipal leaders reached an agreement on the distribution of local option sales tax (LOST) revenue. Woman with tuberculosis arrested in Maysville

A woman with tuberculosis was arrested in Maysville on Wednesday and is in the Oconee County jail awaiting a hearing next week.
