Dog leaves long, deep cut on man’s arm

A Braselton man received a large wound from a neighbor’s dog, according to an incident report from police. An officer on patrol on Zion Church Road noticed a man walking in the area with a rag over his arm. An Athens man was arrested on child molestation charges recently. Renato Christian Melendez, 38, 397 Winford Smith Road, was charged with incest, aggravated child molestation, rape and two counts of aggravated sodomy — commit sodomy with force and against person’s will or person is less than 10-years old. More than 7,300 students are expected to enter the Jackson County School System this year, which is a slight increase from enrollment numbers last year.
