Madison County’s Frank Ginn is one step closer to retaining his District 47 seat in the Georgia Senate. The incumbent senator defeated Republican challenger Danny Yearwood from Barrow County 13,667 to 6,413 votes (68 to 32 percent) Tuesday. Two Madison County elections now head to overtime. The local sheriff’s Republican race was cut from three to two Tuesday, while the GOP coroner’s campaign was whittled from four to two. Colbert man arrested after dispute

A Colbert man was arrested recently after his wife called 9-1-1 to report that he grabbed her arm during an argument. Michael Joseph Ward, 48, 496 Childers Road, Colbert, was charged with one count of marijuana possession less than an ounce.
