Attorneys involved with the civil lawsuit pitting a former Apalachee High School teacher against the Barrow County School System agreed Friday to drop superintendent Wanda Creel as a defendant in the suit. The Auburn City Council hired a new city clerk last week, along with approving several other personnel changes. The council unanimously approved Janice Brown as the city’s new clerk. The Auburn City Council delayed a vote on its FY2013 budget during a Sept. 6 meeting after two council members opposed a proposed hike in water fees. Georgia State Patrol officials released the identity of the 4-year-boy killed Monday night off Mt. Moriah Road in Auburn. Xavier Franklin died when he fell off the back of his father's large work truck and the vehicle backed over him. His father is Robert Franklin, 28.
