Woman says machete keeps her safe

A machete-carrying woman told a deputy she took the large blade during a walk because she was in Jackson County and she wanted it for “protection,” according to an incident report from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Convenience store owner charged with battery

A Hull convenience store owner is in the crime reports again recently. Mohammad Shafiq, 43, 84 Hidden Falls Drive, Hull, was charged with battery under the Family Violence Act and cruelty to children in the third degree Aug. 30. They had to hold off a furious fourth quarter comeback attempt by Central Fellowship, but the Bethlehem Christian Academy Knights posted their first football win of 2012 Friday night. The Bethlehem Christian Academy football team enjoyed the thrill of victory for the first time in 2012 last Friday as the Knights held on for a 31-26 victory against Central Fellowship on the road. The Bulldoggs outscored host Salem High School 13-8 in the second half but fell two points shy as the Seminoles escaped with a 22-20 win.
