The Braselton Town Council awarded a $770,000 construction bid to BM&K Construction for renovation of the Braselton Brothers Department store area. An abandoned guard shack on Cherry Drive was damaged last week, according to an incident report filed at the Braselton Police Department. An officer on patrol spotted a large amount of broken glass in the driveway near the building. Someone had attempted to break into the building. Man tries to choke his basset hound to death

A Jefferson man was arrested following a domestic dispute call last weekend where he tried to choke a basset hound at his Elrod Avenue apartment in front of his wife and 15-year-old stepchild. BOE keeps 18.9 millage rate for FY 2012

The Jackson County Board of Education approved, by a unanimous vote, the fiscal year 2012 millage rate of 18.9 mills. The board met in an early-morning called meeting on Thursday and approved the same millage rate as FY 2011. For the full story see the Oct. 10 issue of The Jackson Herald.
