Nearly 7,500 vote early in Barrow County so far

The opportunity to vote early in the closely contested Presidential and local elections ends Friday. Nearly 7,500 Barrow County residents had cast their Nov. 6 ballots as of Saturday. Monday's early voting turnout in Barrow County was 904, bringing to 7,706 the number of local residents who have voted in person in the highly contested Presidential and local elections. Today at 5 p.m. is the entry deadline for the Barrow Journal’s Halloween coloring contest. Two $25 prizes will be awarded: one for ages 5-8 and another for ages 9-13. Tree limb strikes toddler at Winder daycare center

A 2-year-old child playing outside a newly opened daycare center in Winder was knocked unconscious by a falling tree limb this morning and has been flown by helicopter to an Atlanta hospital, according to the Winder Police Department.
