The Christmas in Lula celebration is set for 4-7 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 1. This year’s theme is ‘Old Time Christmas Celebration.’ There will be caroling and holiday treats. Santa will arrive on a fire truck at 5 p.m. The event is held in the Lula Veterans Park.

The Town of Homer is making plans for its 13th annual Christmas Celebration to be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec .2, at the historic courthouse. Banks County Chamber CVB members recognized Bonnie Johnson on her service to the organization at the monthly meeting on Nov. 8. Sunday alcohol sales will not be allowed in Banks County after the issue failed in Tuesday’s election. When the votes were tallied Tuesday night, it was reported that 3,206 Banks Countians voted against Sunday alcohol sales, while 2,909 county residents voted yes. The Georgia Department of Transportation is conducting routine maintenance activities in Banks County this week. The DOT will be mowing on State Route 15/U.S. 441. The crews will work through Friday of this week from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., if weather permits. Motorists should reduce their speed in these and all work zones.
