THE JEFFERSON girls produced the best finish of any local cross country team at the state meets in Carrollton Saturday, taking fifth in Class AA. Robert Phillips of Winder won the Barrow Journal football contest for Oct. 31 edging one other contestant on the tiebreaker. Phillips correctly picked 11 games as did Ray D. Fumea of Winder.
