The Banks County Middle School Leopards competed this past Saturday in the toughest preseason tournament in the state, the Jr. Mountaineer Tournament in Dahlonega. Man shot neighbor’s dog, drug dead corpse to his house

A 37-year-old Hoschton man was arrested last week after he admitted to shooting a neighbor’s dog and dragging the animal’s corpse across the street to his property. BOC moves forward with election board

Madison County moved closer Nov. 5 to the establishment of a county election board. The commissioners agreed to hold public hearings in late November and early December to get input on their plans to establish a three-person board to oversee county elections. Two more rabies cases reported in county

Two more positive rabies cases have been reported in Madison County in the past two weeks. A rabid skunk was found on Hill Street in Comer and a rabid raccoon was found on West Kellogg Drive in Danielsville. “Both incidents have involved the wild animals attacking domestic pets (dogs),” said Madison County animal control officials.
