Although the Tigers significantly out-gained Pinecrest Academy (5-4, 3-3) on total offense, Commerce (5-5, 1-5) was unable to overcome five turnovers in a 31-21 loss to the Paladins on Friday. BCHS defense played a tough game and held the Warriors on several occasions before finally giving up 41 points in the final game of the season. The Leopards will regroup for next years season.

OCONEE COUNTY built a 41-0 lead after three quarters to put a damper on East Jackson's Senior Night in a 41-7 win over the Eagles Friday. The Madison County Red Raider football team dropped its final football game of 2012 to Chestatee by a 48-7 score Friday night at Raider Stadium. In the postgame victory huddle, Apalachee High School athletic director Brian Moore made it official. “For the fifth year in a row, the Battle of Barrow trophy goes to Apalachee,” Moore said to the Wildcat players, coaches and fans. 2 apply for new superior court judgeship

Two local lawyers have applied for the fourth judge’s position approved recently for the Piedmont Judicial Circuit. Wanda Barnett, a Jefferson attorney, and Wayne McLocklin, a Winder attorney, both applied by the deadline on Friday. The appointment will be made by Gov. Nathan Deal.
