A small outbuilding was heavily damaged by fire last week, according to an incident report from the West Jackson Fire Department.
When firefighters arrived at the Ga. Hwy. 60, Hoschton, property on Jan. 3, the outbuilding was fully involved in flames. The surrounding brush fire was extinguished with hand tools and water.
After the fire was extinguished, the building was overhauled, according to an incident report.
A cause of the fire wasn’t known, according to the fire department.
Other Incidents
Other incidents that the West Jackson Fire Department responded to last week included:
•smoke detector malfunction at a Montvale Drive, Hoschton, address, where a woman said the batteries in her smoke detector kept beeping. Firefighters replaced the batteries in the smoke detector. There were no signs of a fire.
•authorized burn at a Walnut Woods Drive, Braselton, address, where firefighters were initially told that there was an illegal burn in the area. They found a small fire in a backyard, where the occupants of a house said they were cooking over it. There were no other problems with the blaze.
•EMS call at a Pocket Road, Braselton, address, where a patient said they had chest pain with respiratory distress. The patient was taken to a hospital.
•EMS call at the Pilot Travel Center on Ga. Hwy. 53, Braselton, where a driver of a tractor-trailer truck was experiencing chest pains. Firefighters helped provide patient care to the driver until an ambulance arrived. The driver was taken to a hospital.
•EMS call at a Duck Road, Braselton, address, where a woman said she was having chest pains and experiencing respiratory distress. She was taken to a hospital.
•EMS call at a Towne Center Parkway, Hoschton, address, where a woman outside of Wingslingers said she got hot while inside of the restaurant and started experiencing chest pains. She got weak walking across a parking lot. EMS workers evaluated the woman, but she refused to be taken to a hospital.
•EMS call at an Ednaville Road, Braselton, address, where a woman had a stroke. Firefighters found the woman sitting in a chair in a house. Firefighters helped EMS workers with the woman’s care. She was taken to a hospital.
