The West Jackson Fire Department responded to the following incidents last week:
•structure fire at a Kings Road, Braselton, address, where light smoke was coming from a residence. Firefighters found a trash can that was melted to the carpet in a bedroom. Jackson County deputies said they were sent to the house for a possible suicide attempt and found the trash can on fire. The deputies extinguished the blaze with a portable fire extinguisher. Firefighters removed the can from the residence and cooled the carpet with water.
•illegal burn at a Legendary Drive, Hoschton, address, where a small campfire was found behind a residence. After firefighters investigated the scene, they learned that the homeowner was burning trash. The homeowner was told to extinguish the fire and told about burn ordinances. The homeowner extinguished the fire.
•false alarm at Cracker Barrel on Exchange Way, Braselton, where firefighters said there was no fire or smoke showing from the restaurant when they arrived. They checked the building, but didn’t find any fire or smoke. The fire alarm had been accidently set.
•false alarm at an Arbor Trace, Braselton, address, where a smoke alarm was activated by accident.
•vehicle accident on I-85, where one northbound lane of the interstate was shut down for safety. There no injuries among the passengers.
•vehicle accident on Ga. Hwy. 53, Hoschton, where one car was found off the roadway in a ditch. The driver of the vehicle said she was fine and didn’t want any medical care.
•vehicle accident on Peachtree Road, Hoschton, where a vehicle was against a power pole near the Barrow County line. There were no fires, leaks or injuries. Firefighters helped direct traffic in the area until a power company arrived.
•odor of natural gas at a Jesse Cronic Road, Braselton, address, where firefighters used a monitor to check for any signs of gas in a residence. The house was checked and was clear of any gas or odor of gas.
•vehicle accident on Ga. Hwy. 53, Braselton, where two cars were off of the roadway in front of the Pilot Travel Center. A patient from one of the vehicles was taken to a hospital.
•vehicle accident on I-85, where two vehicles were found in the median, near the 133 mile marker. There were no injuries or hazards.
•EMS call at a Ga. Hwy. 124, Braselton, address, where an unresponsive patient was reported. An ambulance arrived before firefighters, who were later cancelled en route.
•EMS call at a Walnut Road, Hoschton, address, where a man was in cardiac arrest and was lying on a floor. North Jackson firefighters arrived before West Jackson firefighters. EMS crews assessed the man and decided not to initiate CPR.
