Sherry Clark Moore of Jefferson plans to run for probate judge of Jackson County. One other candidate, Tracy Brooks, has also announced for the position. Probate judge Margaret Deadwyler has announced that she is not seeking re-election.
She has a legal career that spans 26 years, including serving as chief clerk for the Athens-Clarke County Probate Court, where she has been employed for the past nine and a half years. She began working for Susan Tate in her law practice 25 years ago, prior to her being elected as the Clark County Probate Judge.
Moore has been a resident of Jefferson for seven years. She has been married to Mitch Moore for almost 19 years and has two children: a daughter, Cherie, who is married; and a son, Caleb, a ninth grader at Jefferson High School.
