Sherry Clark Moore of Jefferson plans to run for probate judge of Jackson County.
“I feel like the citizens of Jackson County deserve to have a probate judge who has experience working in the probate court and is well-versed with the laws governing the court,” Moore said. “I am excited for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Jackson County with the skills I have developed over the course of my career.”
She has a legal career that spans 26 years, including serving as chief clerk for the Athens-Clarke County Probate Court, where she has been employed for the past nine and a half years. She began working for Susan Tate in her law practice 25 years ago, prior to her being elected as the Clark County Probate Judge.
Moore has received probate clerk training at statewide seminars.
Moore has been a resident of Jefferson for seven years. She has been married to Mitch Moore for almost 19 years and has two children: a daughter, Cherie, who is married; and a son, Caleb, a ninth grader at Jefferson High School; along with a son-in-law and grandson.
Probate judge Margaret Deadwyler has announced that she is not seeking re-election. Tracy Brooks announced earlier that she plans to run for the position.
