Man charged with interfering with EMS, patient

A Colbert man was arrested recently after he allegedly tried to interfere with the investigation and treatment of a person at his home who reportedly tried to commit suicide.

Douglas Randolf Cochran, 60, 564 Christmas Circle, was charged with one count each of obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers and obstructing or hindering EMTs.

According to the incident report, officer Brandon Hanley found Cochran and a woman on the front porch. Cochran said he got a call that “the law” was coming to his house and he wanted to know “what the &@&* was going on.” Hanley said dispatch received a call about the woman wanting to harm herself. Paramedics arrived and began trying to examine the woman but Cochran allegedly kept interrupting and flailing his arms. Hanley told him to calm down, but he allegedly said “No, this is my @*&^ and you’re in it.” The patient was transported to the hospital and Cochran was taken to jail.

In another arrest, Ethan Allen White, 39, 301 Hickory Hills Road, Danielsville, was charged with obstruction and criminal trespass after officers were forced to taser him following a domestic dispute at his home.

According to the report, officer Jason Ring and Sgt. Gary Floyd met White’s wife at William’s Store on Hwy. 29 North where she told them her husband was very intoxicated and had broken some windows in their residence while two minor children were inside. Officers found broken windows with blood on them at the residence and White was located in the front yard. He had a large stick in his hand and he continued to try to go back inside the home and began to turn toward officers with the stick, refusing to obey their commands to stop. He was tasered in the back and arrested. Cruelty to children charges may be forthcoming.
