There will be no pay raise for the mayor and council members in Statham — at least not yet.
The agenda item concerning salary for the council was tabled during Tuesday’s meeting.
Council member David Huth said he would like to discuss the issue more in another work session. Council member Perry Barton said he would also like to discuss it further.
Statham mayor Robert Bridges was not at Tuesday’s meeting since he recently had surgery.
Currently, the mayor is paid $1,000 per month while council members are paid $500.
In other business Tuesday night, the council also tabled an item concerning the water bill of Kingsley Leigh Griffith of Greenfield Drive. Griffith was not able to attend Tuesday’s meeting.
The council went into closed session for eight minutes concerning “pending litigation,” but took no action once the meeting was re-opened.
Council member Betty Lyle said overall the Sunflower Festival went well although she had concerns about an auction which was also held that evening.
“There just isn’t enough parking for two events,” Lyle said. “We are only asking for one day out of the year when nothing else is held in downtown.”
