Clean out your files and have the paper shredded at a recycling event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Jackson County Landfill on County Farm Road in Jefferson, 16 Hendrix Drive, Jefferson.
Also, Premier Storage in Commerce will receive items ahead of the recycling day until Thursday, Oct. 11. Premier Storage is located behind Hardee’s, at 95 Homer Street.
Load files into a box and bring them to the American Security Shredding truck to participate in on-site shredding. There is a five box maximum. All businesses are asked to make prior arrangements or be prepared to pay for disposal. The service is free of charge for private citizens of Jackson County.
Event sponsors are: Jackson County Board of Commissioners, Keep Jackson County Beautiful, Jackson County Solid Waste, Atlanta Recycling Solutions, American Security Shredding, Legacy Landscape and Atlanta Recycling.
Acceptable items are: paper records, computer monitors, microwave ovens, telephones, computer CPUs, stereos, CB radios, laptops, copiers, CD players, printers, video machines, cell phones, disk drives, VCRs, keyboards, floppy drives, camcorders, scanners, test and networking equipment, cameras, modems, record players, circuit boards, CD roms, typewriters, UPS/battery backup, portable radios, fax machines, projectors, keyboards, 8-Tracks and mice.
Televisions will be accepted for a $10 processing fee.
Household items taken include: latex paint, oil paint (6 gallons per household)
paint thinner and solvents, auto oil and batteries, fluorescent light bulbs ($1.50 each) and household batteries.
Good, used clothing and non-perishable food items will be accepted for local charities. Call 706-708-7198 for more information.
