JEFFERSON (26-13, 1-5) split a pair of Thursday home matches, losing to Class AAA’s no. 5 team, Hart County (25-27, 25-22, 7-15), and beating Chestatee (25-21, 25-19) to snap a four-match losing streak.
Jefferson coach Mike Paul said his team played well against Hart County in the loss but couldn’t stop the Bulldogs’ Ashton Stewart.
“We passed well and played good defense tonight but we had no answer for Stewart,” he said.
In the win over Chestatee, Jefferson overcame some offensive struggles to secure the victory.
“While our hitting struggled, our defense played well and we served well and ultimately we came away with a big win,” Paul said.
Sarah Wood led Jefferson with 30 kills, seven digs and four aces. Grace Williamson finished with 19 assists to go along with three digs, four kills and four aces. Paige Watson had 17 kills. She also had three aces, one kill and one dig. Other statistical leaders were Lindsey Nilsen (eight kills), Daniela Franco (five aces, two digs and three kills), Amanda Flowers (five kills, two aces) and Avery Mixon (three aces, one dig).
