The Winder-Barrow High School cross country teams have done it again.
Both the Bulldoggs and Lady Bulldoggs captured first place at the WBHS Invitational held Saturday morning at Bramlett Elementary School. Twenty-four schools were represented.
“It turned out to be a great day,” said WBHS boys coach Michael Lofton. “It was a fun atmosphere and a fun event.”
Caitlin Connell had another strong performance for the Lady Bulldoggs and coach Amanda Partee-Manders. Teammates Whitley Kennedy and Anna Dean were second and third for the WBHS girls.
William Wright led the WBHS boys followed by Skyler Lowe and Nelson Lofton.
Coach Lofton said the revamped WBHS course provides a challenge for the runners.
“We have run on some tough courses this season,” he said. “I was happy with the fight and determination our runners showed Saturday at our meet.”
Timmy Villameter and Alex Martinez rounded out the top five for the WBHS boys.
“Williams has been leading us in our meets, but the rest of the order has been different several times,” Lofton said. “The runners are pushing each other to success.”
The WBHS cross country teams are off this weekend, but will take part in the Coach Wood Invitational hosted by Gainesville Saturday, Oct. 20.
