‘Butch’ Ward (10-18-12)

CLARKESVILLE – Mickey Ray (Butch) Ward, 53, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center after an extended illness.

Born on March 21, 1959 in Hampton, Va., he was the son of Oley M. Ward and the late Frances Ann Cowart Stowe and the late Donald Stowe. He was self-employed as a construction worker and was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Sullivan and a brother, Ricky Dale Wood.

Survivors including his father are his wife, Peggy Canup Ward, Clarkesville; sons, Jacob Ward and Matthew Ward, both of Clarkesville; two sisters, Donna Hooper, Commerce and Shawn Abundez, Winder; three brothers, Ray Ward, Jefferson, Nick Ward, Panama City, Fla., and Bobby Ward, Oklahoma.

Memorial services were held Saturday, October 20, in the Hill Crest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home in Toccoa. Officiating were the Rev. Billy Joe Waters and Mr. Anthony Conners.

Acree-Davis Funeral Home, Toccoa, was in charge of arrangements.
