HOSCHTON - Louise Langford, 85, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
She came to Hoschton in 1945 to teach elementary school. She met and married Robert Langford having the same last name. She served as a teacher for 30 years in the Jackson and Hall Counties School Systems and is often affectionately remembered for having used a ruler on an open palm of a misbehaving child. Ms. Langford was an active member of Hoschton First Baptist Church until her later years of failing health. She started the Vacation Bible School program in the 1950s and served in numerous teaching capacities within the church. She was also past president of the local PTA.
Ms. Langford is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Langford; parents, Clyde and Mary Langford; brother, Bill Langford; sisters Carolyn Martin, Betty Brown, and Linda Morgan.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Robbie Bettis and Fredrick, Hoschton; grandson, Ryan Lyndal Langford; step-granddaughters, Lisa York, Mt. Airy, Julie Grindle, Pendergrass, Amy Woods, Maysville, Michelle Bettis, Braselton, and Greg Bettis, Temple; her close companion/caregivers, Linda Bishop and Peri Williamson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 7, at Hoschton First Baptist Church with the Revs. Rick Thrasher, Cory Sexton, and John Mark Carpenter officiating. Pallbearers will be Dan Langford Jr., Gary Langford, Greg Bettis, Brian Kendall and Paul (Buddy) Cheek, Jr. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 6, at the church. Interment will be at the Hoschton City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Church of Hoschton Building Fund.
