By Ben Munro and Erin Rossiter NO DRAMA this time. Just dominance — and a trip to the Dome. One week after outlasting Fitzgerald in a three-overtime thriller, Jefferson (13-1) took the more conventional route this Friday at Memorial Stadium, beating Greater Atlanta Christian 42-14 to set up a Class AA finals clash against Calhoun (14-0) in the Georgia Dome Dec. 15. “We’re playing for a state championship!” said lineman Connor Paul, who hugged safety Tradd Porter in the mob scene of a crowd after the game. Jefferson players attempted to summarize this latest monumental win, which vaulted the school to its first state title game in 35 years. “You can’t describe the feeling,” Jefferson linebacker Wesley Simonton said. “This is something when you’re a little kid, you sit there and dream of but it might never happen. We’re just happy we could do it for the community. We haven’t been to the finals in so long.” Jefferson coach T. McFerrin said he used playing in the Dome as a motivating factor for this game. “I didn’t talk about Calhoun; I didn’t talk about Lamar County,” McFerrin said. “I just said, to get to the Dome, we’ve got to win this game tonight … I want you to get to the Dome. I want you to have the Dome experience, because it’s something you’ll never forget.”
