A Jefferson man was among the six fatalities reported by the Georgia State Patrol over the 102-hour New Year’s holiday travel period.
Brian Allan Churchill, 29, was killed around 11:50 a.m. Monday morning in Jackson County when he lost control of his 2008 BMW M3 on Benton Road, four miles west of Jefferson. According to the report by GSP Athens, Churchill’s vehicle was southbound on Benton Road negotiating a curve when the driver lost control and the vehicle struck a fence. The vehicle then overturned, struck a utility pole, overturned again and struck a tree with its right front side. Churchill was killed in the crash. A passenger, Terry Churchill was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries received in the crash.
