JEFFERSON - Rev. Robert Jason Conner, 61, the son of the late Benjamin Arren Conner and Julia Mac Franklin Conner, died Saturday, January 12, 2013.
He grew up as a dairy farmer at Conner Farms until he was called into the ministry. As a graduate of the University of Georgia, he was an avid Dawg fan who studied history and the Bible. Rev. Conner coached many sports teams through the years and also served as a counselor and mentor. Ordained into the ministry 30 years ago, he last served as the pastor of Legacy Baptist Church in Jefferson. Rev. Conner was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Conner.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Sasser Conner; daughter, Jennifer (Ritch) Bray; son, Jason (Amy) Conner; daughter, Mary (Allen) Hanson; son, Sasser Conner; all of Jefferson; grandchildren, Madison, Conner, Arren, and Brayden; brothers, Ben A. Conner, Savannah, Franklin Conner, St. Simons, and Al Conner, Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Beverly Cole, Dalton, and Vickie Kennedy, Dunwoody.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, at 2 p.m., at Cleveland Road Baptist Church in Bogart, with Chuck Herring officiating. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 12 to 2 p.m. prior to the service, in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson.
