Governments closed; MLK parade in Winder

Government offices and public schools are closed today in recognition of the birthday of the late Martin Luther King, Jr. The local annual parade in honor of the slain civil rights leader will start at 10:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Quality Foods on North Broad Street and will end at White Oak Springs Baptist Church at 123 E. New St. just east of downtown. A service at the church will follow the parade. The parade is sponsored by the Martin Luther King Jr. Committee.
