WINDER – Woodfin “Tip” Clair Wall, 91, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013.
He was the son of the late Thomas Arthur and Ola Patrick Wall. During his life, he was the owner and operator of Tip Wall Trucking and was a farmer. He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He attended church at the New Pentecost United Methodist Church in Winder, which he helped to build. He also assisted in building the gymnasium for Holsenbeck Elementary School. Tip served six years as a Barrow County Commissioner.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lois Wall, having celebrated their anniversary on January 18; two sons, Phillip (Jackie) Wall, Winder, and Tony (Denise) Wall, Watkinsville; two daughters, Melissa (Ashley) Saunders, Athens, and Melinda (Kendall) Williams, Winder; a sister, Helen Davis, Lawrenceville; 12 grandchildren, Chip Saunders, Stuart Saunders, Nick Saunders, Joanna Rennie, Scott Wall, Nicole Wall, Russell Wall, Erin Skinner, Patrick Wall, Wesley Cooper, Casey Cooper, and Lindsey Williams; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 22, at 2 p.m., at the New Pentecost U.M.C. with the Revs. John Norman and Mike McLemore officiating. Burial will follow the service at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, January 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.
Flowers are accepted, but donations to the New Pentecost U.M.C. are preferred.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
