ALTO – Lucille McCoy Wheeler, 85, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013.
She was born in Banks County on November 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Archie Broadus and Lillie Mae Eubanks McCoy. Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Wheeler; brothers, Bill McCoy and E.B. "Mac" McCoy; and a sister, Sue Dobbins. She was a member of Clarks Creek Baptist Church and HM Stewart Pioneer Club. She was retired with 40 years of service as junior revenue accountant with the Standard Telephone Company.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Robert T. "Bob" and Barbara McCoy, Mt. Airy; sisters-in-law, Kathleen McCoy, Cornelia, and Geraldine McCoy, Lilburn; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Hal Cason, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, January 25, and noon until the funeral hour on Saturday, January 26, at the funeral home.
