Luther Tanner (1-24-13)

COMMERCE - Luther Payton Tanner, 83, died Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Gillsville, the son of the late L.P. and Elizabeth Wilson Tanner. He was a member of the Baptist denomination and was retired from Roper Pump. Mr. Tanner was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Watkins Tanner.

Survivors include daughters, Debbie Phagan , Nicholson, Shelia Minish, Commerce, and Gay Dowdy, Homer; sons, Jeff Tanner and Tracy Tanner, both of Commerce; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 27, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Revs. Donald Phillips and Ray Chester officiating. Interment followed in Jackson Memorial Gardens.

Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
