Students to vote on name of new middle school in Statham

Students who will attend the new middle school in Statham when it opens in August are going to help name it. A survey of adults last year produced three top picks, but students will be able to suggest other contenders as well. The top three names from the 2012 survey were LaFar D. Sims Middle School, Statham Middle School and Bear Creek Middle School. The No. 1 pick last year was to name the school in honor of the late Rev. Sims, who in 1948 became the principal of Glenwood Elementary and High School.
