TOCCOA - Edna Ward Wilcher, 86, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013.
A native of Macon, she was born August 24, 1926, the daughter of the late Dan and Eunice Ward. Mrs. Wilcher was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Wilcher. She was a graduate of Miller High School and the Wesleyan Conservatory of Music in Macon and was head pianist for one of the top choral groups at Wesleyan. Music was always her first love and she loved praising God with her music. She was organist at First Baptist Church in Hazelhurst for seven years, and then served as organist at Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens for 34 years.
Survivors include daughters, Jenny Smith and husband, Alfred, Hazelhurst, and Terrie Stephens and husband, Allan, Millbrook, Ala.; sons, Danny Wilcher and wife, Alice Ann, Winder, and Scott Wilcher, with whom she resided with in Toccoa; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, at Beech Haven Baptist Church with the Revs. Curtis Murdock and Ron Hatchett officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Allan Stephens, Alfred Smith, Greg Bennett, Thomas Bennett, Tyler Wilcher, and Guy Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Amedisys Hospice of Toccoa, 53 Rock Dr., Toccoa, GA 30577.
