Lula Mae Lester Ivory was born on a cold day in January. She was the daughter of the late D. C. and Ola Duke Lester. She was educated in the Jackson County Public School System and was a faithful member of Paradise Church, where she worked and enjoyed being a chaperone for the youth department. She was a member of the usher board, where she kept the door with such grace. She served with the missionary board where she worked diligently until health issues prevented her from working any longer. Ms. Ivory was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ivory, Sr.
Survivors include three sons, James E. Ivory Jr. (Gladys), Kenneth D. Ivory (Gilda), and R. Steve Ivory (Janice; four daughters, Deborah A. Norris (Hayes), Cynthia D. Ivory, Twynette Ivory (Spencer), and Cordelia Walton (Rev. Elijah Williams); nine grandchildren, Vickie, Marcus (Alana), Kesha (DeAngelo), Shaquana Ivory, Travone, Shanita Moon, Le Tre Pittman, Tiye and Elijah Williams III; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Julia M. Gibbons; two brothers, Willie V. (Sandra) and Richard Lester; and a host of relatives and friends.
