The Commerce City Council expects to approve a bid for a playground at Ridling Field and enter contracts to finalize upgrades to its citywide Internet and phone services Monday night.
The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Commerce Room of the Commerce Civic Center.
Recreation director Scott Rodgers briefed the council on the $25,000 playground bid from Southern Playgrounds.
“Ridling Park is where we play a majority of the small-kid stuff — T-ball, coach pitch,” said Rodgers, who indicated a need for something to offer younger children at the park for ballgames.
The price includes netting to protect kids from foul balls.
City manager Pete Pyrzenski urged council members to visit the city’s ball fields, where dugouts are being painted and bathrooms renovated.
“We’re getting a lot of compliments on the work done so far,” Rodgers observed.
