Madison County is in the market for a new road department director.
County commissioners discussed the open position during a lengthy Jan. 25 work session.
Charles Temple resigned from the post in December after 23 years on the job after protesting a BOC decision on vacation pay policies.
County commission chairman Anthony Dove said the minimum salary for the post is $39,000 based on the county’s pay scale. He said the new chairman needs to be someone who can be available after regular business hours to handle road emergencies — or at least handle the delegation of such responsibilities.
Madison County building and grounds director Alan Lapczynski has served as the interim department head since Temple’s resignation.
