Commerce residents have a new way to get information or register opinions with City Hall.
The city’s new Web site is now online.
Located at www.commercega.org, the site is designed to be more informative and more interactive for local residents.
Finance director James Wascher, who is handling the transition for the city, gave the city council a brief overview of the web page Monday night.
With a new color scheme, the site provides lists of all departments in alphabetical order with names and contact information. It also includes photos and biographies of the mayor and city council members.
“Department heads should be a lot more accessible to the public,” Wascher commented, adding that the new Web site is “designed to give citizens the information they want.”
It includes vendor information, upcoming events, links to schools, the hospital and the Downtown Development Authority.
It also has a place where residents can make comments, air complaints and even post photos — after approval by Wascher.
The site is also designed so department heads can do their own updates, which Wascher will then upload.
“With a new phone system and a new web page, we’re moving into the 21st Century,” joked Mayor Clark Hill.
