Hull man faces battery charge after incident with girlfriend

James Daniel Strickland, 25, 127 Oak Drive, Hull, was charged with battery FVA last week after he allegedly grabbed his live-in girlfriend’s arm during an argument at their residence.

The woman was able to grab their 5-month old son and leave the residence. She said this is not the first time Strickland has been violent with her.

Other incidents on file at the sheriff’s office this week included:

•A man on West Briarwood Drive reported that his ex-wife emailed his sister a poem about a woman killing her husband. The man said this made him feel threatened because his ex-wife has been married three times before and all of her previous husbands are dead.
•Terroristic threats and acts were reported on Childers Road this week after a woman reported that her husband, who she is in the process of getting a divorce from, threatened to “kill her” after they got into an argument while on an evening out as a couple. She said when they returned home, he grabbed a rifle out of the bedroom and left.

•A man on Hwy. 72 West reported that his wife has been missing since Jan. 26. He said she told him she had plans with a friend after work, but never came home. He contacted the friend, who told him they did not have any plans and that his wife had not come to work that day.

•A man on Hwy. 29 South reported that his Blu Ray player and several DVDs had been taken from his residence while he left to run errands.

•A middle school student was charged with battery last week after he reportedly hit another student in the head with a ruler that left the other student with a bleeding laceration.

•A coal/wood burning stove was reportedly stolen from an outbuilding behind a home on Crawford W. Long Street.

•A man on Howard Road reported that sometime in the last month his Honda R600 dirt bike was stolen from behind the residence. A friend reportedly told him he saw the dirt bike at a repair shop in Athens being worked on. He said he suspects another friend may have stolen the bike after he let him ride it.

•A woman on Colbert School Road reported that someone broke into her storage building taking several totes, miscellaneous baby clothes, a car seat and a playpen.

•A woman at the Dollar General on Hwy. 72 West reported that her husband has been calling and harassing her for several weeks. On that day, he called her at work and allegedly threatened to set her car on fire.

•A man on Hwy. 106 North reported that a battery had been stolen from the tailgate of his pick-up truck.

•A man on Jones Mathews Road reported that several chainsaws were stolen from his shop over the last three weeks.

•Two freshman academy school students were charged with disrupting public school and affray last week after they fought between the academy and the lunchroom.

•A man on Glenn Carrie Road reported that a man he knows spit on him after accusing him of having his necklace.

•Theft by taking was reported on Dove Drake Road last week. A woman there said she had just moved from Franklin County to Madison County and that five guns and a child’s four-wheeler were missing when she got ready to make the move. She said Franklin County had advised her to make a report in Madison County. She said a suspect told her the guns were in a storage unit in Royston but that when she checked they were not there.

•A man on Collins – Bridges Road reported that someone broke out the rear glass and windshield of his 1986 Chevrolet truck.

•A worker at the Huddle House in Danielsville reported that two black males and a white male did not pay for their meals. She said they left in a small silver passenger car traveling south on Hwy. 29.

•A woman on Creek Drive reported that her van was broken into and her purse and wallet taken.

•A woman on Eugene Hardman Road reported that her daughter stole her BB&T debit card, using it to withdraw $800 from the account.

•A woman on Bullock Mill Road reported that a man came to her house to ask for some type of papers and that while she was getting them he took her wallet from her purse. She said the wallet contained $1,500, credit cards and her license. She said the man left in a Ford LTD.

•A woman on Old Church Road reported that she was arguing with a man at the residence and wanted to leave. She said she took a bus there from Miami to move in with him but decided she didn’t like him. She wanted to know if there was a shelter for her until she could get back to Miami since she was drunk and homeless. No shelters were able to accept her so she was taken to Athens Regional for help.
