Vera Patton (2-24-13)

TALMO - Vera Dean Pethel Patton, 93, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013.

A lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel and Alma Beatty Pethel. Mrs. Patton retired from Gold Kist Hatchery in Gainesville and in Commerce, with many years of service. She was a member of Talmo Baptist Church. Mrs. Patton was preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt Patton; a son, Danny Patton; three brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include sons, Mel (Debra) Patton, Talmo, and Neil (Dawn) Patton, Talmo; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 27, at 3 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Spence officiating. Interment will be at Talmo Baptist Church Cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandson, Caine Tate, Josh Patton, Shay Patton, Lee Patton, Jermey Patton, and Cody Harris. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 26, at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
