COMMERCE - William Lamar Williams, 78, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 in Mount Pleasant, S.C..
He was born on October 1, 1934 in Commerce, the son of the late Samuel Dewitt and Martha Annette Williams. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Lamar Williams. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1953 to 1957 and later received his bachelor's degree in business from Georgia State University in 1965. He worked in sales for Johns Manville and was a member and elder of Commerce Presbyterian Church. He was an avid reader and world traveller and was a man of integrity and perseverance. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Survivors include a daughter, Allison Williams; five brothers, Sidney Williams, Gene Williams, Mike Williams, Donnie Williams, and Bobby Williams; three sisters, Evelyn Brummette, Joyce Chifici, and Sandra Freeman; three grandchildren, Nolan Williams, Kyle Williams, and Drew Miller; and one great-granddaughter, Kylie Williams.
A memorial service will be held at Commerce Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 9, at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow. Burial will be private.
