What will be the focus of the Town of Braselton this year? Those ideas and others were discussed at a daylong strategic planning workshop held March 1. Assisted by Northeast Georgia Regional Planning executive director Jim Dove and his assistant Mott Beck, the council came up with some policy priorities and goals to pass on to town manager Jennifer Dees for the next 12-18 months.
Council members Richard Mayberry (District 1), Peggy Slappey (District 2) and Tony Funari (District 3) and mayor Bill Orr all attended. Representatives from the following boards also attended briefly to weigh in on the councils visions and to offer their perspectives: Amy Pinnell, director, and Cindy Green, member, Braselton Downtown Development Authority; Doug Rollins, marketing director for Chateau Elan and member of Braselton Visitors Bureau Authority; Tony Price, Braselton Planning Commission member; Allan Slovin, chairman, Braselton Planning Commission; Sammy Smith, Braselton public relations; and Dees, town manager, member of Braselton Community Improvement District and chairman of the Braselton Visitors Bureau Authority. Dees was also present for the entire day’s events.
