GAINESVILLE - Leonard P. Waugh, 81, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 7, 2013, following an extended illness.
He was born October 2, 1931, the son of the late Poe and Margery (Eblin) Waugh in Milford, W. Va. He was an active member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Gainesville. Mr. Waugh was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Waugh.
He was retired after 20 of service from White Westinghouse and also retired from PMS Consolidated in Gainesville. He was currently employed with Kroger Food Stores, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. Leonard." He was often told that he made the "best peanut butter fudge in Gainesville" and never hesitated to make a batch of candy for you at birthdays, Christmas, or any other special occasion.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jan (Sparks) Waugh; daughter, Kathy Waugh, Gainesville; sister, Mary Long, Gallipolis, Ohio; nieces and nephews; and many friends and church family members.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 10, at the Church of God of Prophecy in Gainesville, with interment following at Memorial Park South Cemetery. Pastors Billy Wallen and James Kanaday officiated.
