ALTO - Edna Matheson Coley, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2013.
Born in Alto on April 28, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Vera Shirley Matheson. She was a member of the Calvary's Cross Baptist Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Coley was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Corbin "Cobb" Coley; a son, Charles Everett Coley; and sisters, Sylvia Wright and Mary Frances Matheson.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Ray Holcomb, Baldwin, Gwen and Clyde Ivester, Alto; son, Melvin Coley, Cornelia; son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Alicia Coley, Clarkesville; one sister, Ruth Cook, Alto; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Garry Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in B.C. Grant Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm Tuesday, March 19.
