The Banks County Baseball Alumni gathered for a fundraiser game at the Leopard diamond this past Saturday. The teams were divided up into four per team and played round robin for six outs. The team with the most runs would win the game.
Twelve alumni signed up for the game and the current Leopards baseball team umpired the event. It was the first game for the alumni in several years to be played at BCHS. MVP of tournament was Mr. Albert Bracket (Class of 1956). Mr. Bracket was 5-6 at the plate. He is 75 years old and hit the ball hard every time he batted.
Team "Ward" managed by Mr. Howard Ward (Class of 1956) won the three team round robin format. Team "Gordon" managed by Gene Gordon (Class of 1956) finished in second place. Team "Kennedy" managed by David Kennedy (Class of 1980) finished in third place. The winning team received prizes in the form of baseball merchandise.
"I did not have to call 911 and it was a great alumni game,” head varsity baseball coach Scott Frederick said. “Everyone seemed very pleased with their winning prize. As a fundraiser, over $560 dollars were donated to help defray the cost of the championship sign and everyone asked to please do this again next year."
