HOMER – Elizabeth Inez Gailey, 70, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, following a courageous fight with cancer.
She was born in Banks County on November 12, 1942, the daughter of the late Annie Bell Eller McCarthy and stepdaughter of the late Charlie McCarthy. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Lois Stephens; sister, Mary Carlan; brother, Billy McCarthy; and grandson, Mason Isaiah Gailey.
Elizabeth lived in Stephens and Banks Counties. She worked many years at the former Steak House, Habersham Retreat, and was a homemaker. Elizabeth was a member of Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dwight Gailey, Homer; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Jackie Whitmire, Homer; daughter, Gail Holcomb, Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and James Luthi, Homer; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Ginger Gailey, Homer; son, Patrick Gailey, Homer; brother, Bobby Bingham, Lawrenceville; sisters, Judy Bingham, Lavonia, Lucille Bates, Nancy Poloski, Pompano Beach, Fla.; special aunt, Mary Louise Morgan, Lawrenceville; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 22, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Roy G. Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the funeral home.
