The Banks County High School Leopards returned home after a disappointing 11-1 rout in Dawsonville against the Tigers only to face them once again for the rematch. The rematch would also prove to be disappointing as the Leopards went down 12-1 at home against the Tigers.
BCHS got three easy outs in the first inning. Dawson made one hit for a single. Then two outs come from the outfield to Tyler Hellmeister and one pop up to Tanner Thompson on third base.
The Leopards took the plate in the first inning with lead off hitter Billy Hudgins. Hudgins doubled and Tanner Thompson walked. Austin Smith got a good crank to score Hudgins for the 1-0 lead.
Hunter Caudelle got two outs then walked two to put the Tigers on first and third in the top of the second inning. Hudgins threw the runner out at first to save the inning.
The Leopards drove two straight outs in the bottom of the second inning. Luke Allen came to the plate and was walked. The top of the line up came into play and Billy Hudgins went to center for the last out of the inning.
Dawson's first batter went for the bunt and was hit by Caudelle for the free base. The Tigers loaded the bases and tied up the game with a base hit to right field. Dawson got another base hit and scoref two runs to lead 3-1 by mid inning. Caudelle walked a batter to load the bases for a second time this inning. But the Leopards got out of the inning with a infield pop fly.
BCHS started the bottom of the third with two straight outs at the plate. The Tigers held the Leopards scoreless in the third to continue the lead 3-1 into the top of the fourth inning. Dawson added a run early in the inning to lead 4-1. The Tigers made a couple of base hits and scored two more runs with two outs. BCHS got out of the inning with a short throw to first.
The Leopards went down swinging in the bottom of the fourth inning. BCHS picked off a runner stealing second base to end the top of the fifth inning. After advancing two batters to second and third bases the Leopards failed to score due to a strike out at the plate to end the bottom of the fifth inning.
Dawson County got a lead off base hit and the runner stole second and third base. A hit scords the runner to add a run to the lead. A shot to center field loaded the bases for the Tigers. Bullock struck out the next batter to leave the bases loaded with two outs. Dawson Counties next batter went down swinging in the sixth inning. BCHS struck out all three batters at the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Taylor Turner came in for the seventh inning. He walked the first two batters to the plate. Dawson's next batter hit a line drive for a RBI base hit making the score 8-1 with no outs. The Tigers scored two runs with one out and one more run with two outs on a base hit past first base. The Leopards walked a run in to lead 12-1 in the top of the seventh inning.
Cole Jones came in to relief pitch the last out of the inning for the Leopards. Dawson popped a short fly ball to right field to end the inning. The Leopards took to the plate with an eleven run deficit to make up. BCHS started the seventh with two base hits and got a wild pitch that advanced runners to second and third base with two outs in the inning. The Leopards ended the inning with a short hit to the shortstop for the final out.
