The Jackson County Board of Education hired a new principal for East Jackson Comprehensive High School last week, a move the system hopes will end months of controversy about leadership at the school.
Jamie Dixon was hired last Thursday for the position and introduced to the school board in a brief called board meeting.
Dixon comes to the system from Cambridge High School in Fulton County where he served as assistant principal last year.
Before that, he worked at Milton High School in Alpharetta from 2004 to 2012.
Before entering education, Dixon was a U.S. Marine between 1983 and 1987, then worked for both the Fulton County Police Department and fire department from 1987-2003.
After entering education in 2004, Dixon has been a teacher, coach, athletic director and assistant principal.
