Nick Zvirbulis was fourth overall at the North Georgia Technial College Mountain Eagle Invitational Saturday in Clarkesville.
The AHS senior ran the course in 17:53 to finish as the top finisher from Barrow County in the event.
It was the third consecutive meet this season Zvirbulis medaled at by finishing in the top 10.
Overall, the Wildcats were fourth as a team behind South Forsyth, Winder-Barrow and Athens Christian. Buford, White County, Jefferson, Loganville, Banks County and Habersham Central rounded out the top 10.
“We like where we are right now,” said coach Alex Holmes. “We look to continue to get better throughout the season. We expect a good finish to the season.”
Chandler Campbell was the second AHS runner to finish the race in 18:41 followed by Jeremy Dyal, Erick Dotson, Brandon Crocker and Jacob Stanley.
For the Lady Wildcats, Analee Bradach was the top runner (24:28) followed by Kim Zahn (25:08), Christi Tobiasz (25:23) and Katie Dasenbrock (27:13). Sarah Gilmore improved by cutting 1:30 off her previous best time.
“All the girls showed improvements this week which was encouraging because it’s the toughest course we’ve seen,” Holmes said.
For the JV Wildcats, Gabriel Maurer-Pollack, Jackson Wadsworth and Preston Marlowe were the top runners. The JV team finished third among 10 teams.
AHS will compete at the WBHS Invitational Saturday beginning at 8 a.m.
