The Winder Police Department on Sept. 5 issued a nuisance citation to the newest member of the Winder City Council over cars stored illegally in his yard off Savannah Street. The case is scheduled for an Oct. 11 hearing in the city’s municipal court. However, the cars on Councilman Al Brown’s property have been removed, so it is doubtful the case will be prosecuted. Brown also is not facing any enforcement action over a large amount of other junk, furniture and materials that had accumulated over a period of years on his properties. That is because city crews on Sept. 3-4 removed the items and transported them at public expense to a privately owned landfill.
